The Pilgrims

We (Sara, Becky, Paula, and Scott) are a team of four, gathered through the Alliance of Baptists, traveling to Tbilisi, Georgia, in June 2019. We have been invited by the Most Reverend Dr. Malkhaz Songulashvili to celebrate Pentecost with our friends at Peace Cathedral and attend a festival at the Yezidi temple in Tbilisi. We will also have the opportunity to hear from members of the Yezidi community who are exiled from their homes.

The Writer

I (Sara) am a doctoral candidate in rhetoric and composition at Texas Christian University, where I study popular professional women’s memoirs and teach undergraduate writing courses. I have attended Broadway Baptist Church (“There’s More than One Way to Be a Baptist”) in Fort Worth, TX, for about two years; I was drawn to the community by its focus on inclusion and liturgical practices. This is my first trip to the Republic of Georgia.
